Remembering Guru Dutt
Today marks the 51st death anniversary of the legendary Guru Dutt. His younger brother, producer Devi Dutt (of Masoom fame) who worked with him for 11 years, fondly recalls his brother's fondness for jalebis with milk, a routine that he would indulge in every morning after full-night of shooting for the iconic film, Pyaasa.
"It keeps the body and mind cool," discloses Devi about his older brother's breakfast mantra. Senior Dutt was also an animal lover, who kept pedigree dogs at his Pali Hill bungalow. He owned a horse as well, and he even learnt horseback riding. "Before the start and release of his movies, he always visited Kalyan's Haji Malang dargah. For his iconic movie Chaudhvin Ka Chaand with Waheeda-ji (Rehman), he got classy studio-sets erected, recreating dargah's aesthetic ambience," recalls Devi.
