Aditya Srivastav and his nephew
A 23-year-old man, Aditya Srivastav, chased the man attempting to kidnap his 4-year-old nephew on Sunday night in Ghatkopar and managed to nab him and hand him over to the police.
As per his police complaint, on Sunday evening, Srivastav had returning home from a shopping spree around 9.45pm. As he was walking towards his building, a friend, Santosh Morya, rushed towards him and told him that he had seen his nephew with some unknown person near Nari Seva Sadan Road. Srivastav ran to the spot and saw a man in his 30s picking up the boy and carrying him into an autorikshaw. Srivastav raised an alarm and chased the autorickshaw, screaming for the driver to stop.
As the rickshaw slowed down, he caught hold of the man seated with his nephew with the help of passers-by and then rescued his nephew. The accused, identified as Nathuram Yadav, 25, was then taken to Ghatkopar police station where he was arrested.
"The accused has been booked under sections of the IPC, and we are investigating the motive behind the kidnapping," said a police officer.
