Employee, who had promised to get boss a lucrative contract with a PSU, disappears with Rs 1 lakh meant for greasing palms of corrupt officials
S Kumaar, the proprietor of Samurai Secura Security and Investigations Agency, was duped of Rs 1 lakh that he had given to his employee to bribe officials of a public sector company.
Kumaar told Koramangala police that Ananth, his employee, had taken the money from him to bribe some officials of the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) for a contract. But when he contacted BEML, he was shocked to know that his company was never under considered for any contract by the company.
Kumaar told this reporter that Ananth had approached him for a job few months ago. During the interview, Ananth allegedly boasted that he had contacts in several Public Sector Units (PSUs) and assured that he would get Kumaar lucrative contracts if he was appointed the company's business manager.
An impressed Kumaar appointed Ananth, who promised that he would get him a security contract that involved supplying 185 guards at BEML. He allegedly took Rs 1 lakh from Kumaar to bribe BEML officials. Ananth also introduced his boss to a man, who is said was Chandrashekhar,u00a0 a senior officer with the BEML. Chandrashekhar assured Kumaar that he would land the contract if he agreed to bribe him.
Confident of being granted the contract, Kumaar handed over the cash to Ananth and asked him to give it to Chandrashekhar. A few days later, when Kumaar called up Chandrashekhar he did not pick the phone. Ananth stopped taking calls as well.u00a0 Kumaar kept calling persistently, and was lateru00a0 threatened by Ananth who warned him of dire consequence if he demanded his money back.
A case of cheating had been registered at the Koramangala police station. Ananth is absconding.
