Pal's Fish Corner's Oshiwara branch doesn't quite live up to the hype that surrounds the Bandra outlet. What's On returns disappointed

Most food lovers have found time to lavish praise on the hole-in-the-wall eatery that stands on busy Linking Road. One look at the crowd that throngs the place every evening, and you won't need any convincing. So, when Pal's Fish Corner opened a branch at Oshiwara, we had to drop in.

The food: We called for Tandoori Rawas (Rs 240), Chicken Irani (Rs130), Dal Makhani (Rs 70) and Paneer Aftab (Rs 95), which were accompanied by Roomali Rotis (Rs 10). The mildly-spiced Rawas was tender and easy on the palate. But the Chicken Irani was nothing but a curry in which pre-cooked chicken pieces had been dunked.

The vegetarians, especially those with an affinity towards North Indian khana will be a bit disappointed with the Dal Makhani that came without a dollop of makhan. Even the Paneer Aftab, which was supposed to be extra spicy, had no distinct taste.

The Service: Our order was ready to go in 20 minutes. If you order in, it could take around 40 minutes for the food to get to you.
