On March 4, Balaji Murty and his accomplices visited Tekade's house at Kirloskar Colony in Manjari pretending to be the members of the Hyderabad task force. They said that they wanted to take Tekade along, as they wanted to interrogate him in some case.

After the abductors demanded Rs 30 lakh as ransom for his release, Tekade's father registered a case with the Loni-Kalbhor police station, who reached Bangalore on March 15 and established contact with the abductors.

The next day, the Pune cops, in coordination with the Bangalore police, laid a trap near KP circle and arrested the kidnappers.

Meanwhile, Subayya and Naidu, took shelter inside the court premises to evade arrest. But the cops posed as Tekade's relatives and arrested the duo outside the court building.
