Delhi police sources say Indian Mujahideen module active in the ValleyDuring investigations into Sunday's firing incident in old Delhi, city cops have discovered a probable Jammu and Kashmir link to the attack. Police sources say it's likely an Indian Mujahideen (IM) module is active in the Valley.
A team of Special Cell, which is primarily investigating the case, sent a team to J&K the same day the incident took place and has been carrying out a probe there.
"The team is expected to come back with vital leads into the incident, which has raised concerns regarding security during the Commonwealth Games," a senior police officer stated.
"By now it seems almost confirmed that IM is behind the incident, but what we are actually looking at is if big fishes like LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammed are patronising the IM in any way," sources said.
Electronic surveillance had hinted that someone from the Valley was in constant touch on the phone connections under scrutiny that were active in the Jama Masjid locality on Sunday.
A senior police officer from Special Cell, on condition of anonymity said, "Teams have been sent to several places and sharing such details would not be possible as it could hamper the investigations."
Sources said that analysing the modus operandi of the Jama Masjid incident, it has been found that it is similar to the Delhi and Jaipur blasts in 2008.
"We have sought investigation details from our counterparts in other states who have been affected by Indian Mujahideen in the past few years and we will analyse them to come to a logical conclusion," a senior Delhi police official said.
Regarding the cooker bomb found inside a Maruti car on Sunday, Delhi police sleuths said the matter would become clear once forensic reports are out.
UP CONNECTIONThere has been some progress in investigations in the Jama Masjid shooting case two days after the incident. The probe trail has now reached Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi Police sources said a team has been sent to Azamgarh in UP and the whole operation is being coordinated with UP Anti-Terror Squad (ATS).
The police are also interrogating one person, who is believed to have close links with the blast and the firing incident of Sunday.
RECOVERINGTaiwanese television crew who came under fire at Jama Masjid on Sunday is now looking to head back home as soon as possible. Ku Ze Wei, the 35-year-old cameraman who suffered minor injuries, was discharged from the Lok Nayak Hospital on Monday evening, while his colleague Ko Chiang, also a cameraman, is still critical, though stable. Owing to security reasons and to avoid the media, the team was shifted out of Hotel Star Rocks and moved to a different location. Ku Ze Wei, who was discharged on Monday, was also shifted out discreetly.
