Investigations revealed that Muddukrishna, alias Mudda, a notorious rowdy sheeter of Ramnagar, had killed his rival Santosh in Channapatna a few months back. When he heard that Santosh's brother Naveen wanted to avenge his brother's death, Mudda got himself arrested and went to jail after implicating himself in a false case.
In Ramnagar sub jail, he met Arasaiah and offered him Rs 3 lakh as supari to eliminate Naveen. Arasaiah then instructed associate Shivakumar alias Gunda, a rowdy in Jayanagar, to kill Naveen.
The trap
Gunda and his associates went to Channapatna and met Naveen's friends. He told them that they wanted to eliminate Muddukrishna and needed their help. Not suspecting their intentions, Naveen's friends introduced them to Naveen, who had the same objective.
After meeting Naveen, Gunda not only sought his help to eliminate their "common" enemy, but also offered money in return. The plan worked and soon Gunda informed Naveen that Mudda was hiding in Bangalore.u00a0
Naveen and his friend Girish then accompanied Gunda in a Maruti van to Bangalore. After getting them drunk on the way, Gunda and his associates slit their throats at an isolated spot. They left them bleeding and fled in another vehicle driven by Gunda's associates.
According to DCP (Crime) Siddaramappa, "This is not only a meticulously planned murder, but it also shows that rowdy elements are still operating freely from jail. Despite several reminders, the jail authorities have failed to curb this menace," he said.
