Hurriyat leaders call for shutdown in Srinagar over Sopore killings

The Hurriyat Conference (G), Hurriyat Conference (M) and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) have jointly called for a complete shutdown across Kashmir on Wednesday, over the killings of civilians at Sopore in Baramulla district


Srinagar: The Hurriyat Conference (G), Hurriyat Conference (M) and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) have jointly called for a complete shutdown across Kashmir on Wednesday, over the killings of civilians at Sopore in Baramulla district.

All shops, business establishments, schools, colleges are closed and public transport is off from the roads. We request government that the culprit should be brought forth because those killed are not at fault.

They are being killed for unknown reasons. This is the reason why Srinagar is closed today. And the call is being made by the Hurriyat leaders, said a local.

On Sunday, a former militant was shot at by unidentified persons. He was reportedly rushed to the hospital, before he succumbed to his injuries. This shooting was the latest in a string of similar incidents in Sopore.
