Deepak was driving his WagonR car towards his home when he noticed a Mercedes following him and of and on its driver making an attempt to overtake his car. As the Mercedes was approaching from wrong side, Deepak continued to move ahead without allowing the car behind him to overtake.
This chase and overtake attempt went on for half-an-hour and finally both the cars came to a halt at traffic signal in Vasant Kunj. At that moment, the Mercedes driver came out of his car and started abusing Deepak.
"To avoid the argument, I rolled up my glasses but this man started banging on the glass and the door. So I opened the door and got down. On this, he again abused me. I noticed a traffic cop and PCR van nearby and called for help. But they did not respond. On this the man then started beating me and twisted my arm.
Noticing the altercation had increased, a traffic cop started walking towards us. Seeing this, the man stopped beating me and moved towards his car. I asked the cop to stop him but he told me that the man will not run away but just park his car on one side of the road. This did not happen and the man simply fled from the scene.u00a0 I somehow managed to note his number DL-2SAQ-5555," said he.
Deepak then went to Fortis hospital where doctors told him that his hand was fractured. "I would have let him overtake only if he would have approached from the right side. But then he seemed to be too egoist to do that," remarked Deepak.
The incident happened on December 27 and the police registered an FIR only on December 31 only after the victim submitted a copy of his MLC report. "We have lodged a case under section 325 and sought the address of the accused from the transport authority based on the registration number provided by the victim," police said.
