Home minister's fake gunman arrested

An assistant police constable who posed as a gunman of the home minister and tried to cheat an assistant commissioner of police to get a seat in a reputed college for his relative was caught by central crime branch sleuths.

APC Govindaraju not only claimed to be a gunman of the home minister but also introduced his associate Sujendra to the ACP of Seshadripuram as the son-in-law of the home minister.

Govindaraju said that he wanted a seat for his relative Sharath Kumar for 1st year PUC in Seshadripuram College. Initially, the ACP obliged Govindaraju, but later informed his seniors because he was suspicious.

Based on the complaint, the matter was referred to CCB, who took up the investigations and managed to apprehend Govindaraju and Sujendra on charges of impersonation and cheating.

The two have been remanded to judicial custody and the case is being investigated by the Seshadripuram police.
