According to sources from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Home Ministry has planned to raise two additional battalions, one each of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Jammu and Kashmir. The move comes only after one-and-a-half months of the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladhak coming into existence.
According to government officials, the move to create two additional battalions is aimed at creating job opportunities for youth in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The two Union Territories, Jammu, and Kashmir will come into existence on October 31. The Home Ministry is preparing a road map just a month after Article 370 was abrogated and the state was split into two UTs with Jammu and Kashmir with an Assembly and Ladakh without one.
