Overspeeding car hits and kills security man posted at J&K chief minister's house on Akbar Road

A Delhi Police security personnel posted at the 7, Akbar Road, residence of Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah was hit and killed by a speeding car on Tuesday night.

Police said Yashpal Singh was hit by a Tata Indica car running at break neck speed as soon as he came out of the gate of the bungalow at 11.15 pm.

Eye-witnesses claimed that the car was racing with two other vehicles when the incident occurred. "We had to call up the police control room van twice before they arrived at the scene," said an eyewitness, who resides in the same locality. The area is a high security zone and Prime Minister's 7 Race Course residence is hardly 50 metres away from the crime scene.

The police said that they will investigate the case.

"Yashpal hailed from Bulandshahr. He died on the spot," said a police official.
