A right wing Hindu organisation has demanded a statewide ban on 'Sons of Babar,' an English play by Union minister for Minorities Salman Khurshid, for 'glorifying' the Mughal era.
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), in its memorandum to organisers Kala Academy, Goa University and International Centre, Goa, has demanded that the Tom Alter-directed play, to be staged on May 12 at Kala Academy in Panaji should be withdrawn.
HJS leader Sushant Dalvi said that the organisation has demanded ban on the play in the state.
"The memorandum is also forwarded to chief minister Digambar Kamat," he said.

Dalvi claimed that Khurshid had said at the maiden show of the play in Delhi that 'Hindustan had progressed under the regime of Mughals in north though people of different religious faiths were there'.
The play revolves around the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar as a central character in reference with the overall Mughal era. HJS had in the past objected to Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Jodhaa-Akbar'.
