After Sena founder Bal Thackeray's death, many were not sure whether there would even be a Dussehra rally this year. Sena leaders had earlier approached the MMRDA for using its BKC ground, but dropped the idea as it was turning out to be costly.
The BMC had earlier denied the Sena permission to hold its annual rally at Shivaji Park for the fourth consecutive time. But once again, the court overturned the civic order , with certain terms and conditions. Rahul Narvekar, Sena spokesperson, said, "We respect the court's decision and are happy. We will continue celebrating this decades-old tradition now."u00a0
