mid-day had reported on Wednesday that the BMC would revoke the cut soon. While officials had not given a date, it was expected within a fortnight. But the BMC gave a pleasant surprise to Mumbaikars by announcing that the cut would come into immediate effect.
The decision was taken after comparing the current water stock to the average of the past 10 years. As compared to it, Mumbai currently has 64% more water stock. Considering this, the decision was taken immediately instead of waiting for a review in October.
All provisions related to the water cut have been withdrawn starting from Wednesday midnight
