Opus at the Creek has a fabulous festive line-up for this week, especially if you are Punjaban at heart

Makar Sankranti this, Pongal that, we've heard enough now, haven't we? What about the four other festivals lined-up for the same 3 days? Does anyone even know that Lohri's also lined up for the January 13?

Even if no one else does, we're happy that Carlton Braganza took note of this Punjabi harvest festival and organized a Lohri bash for everyone who's Punjabi at heart. Head to Opus at the Creek for some typical fare from the Land of Five Rivers and regale to the pounding sounds of Bhangra...

"We are a stage centric, live music-oriented place," says Carlton Braganza, the owner of Opus at the Creek.

"We don't like restricting music to any genre and believe in representing all kinds, including Bhangra," he adds.

Today, January 13

Lohri di Vadhai!
Join Opus at the Creek as they celebrate Lohri in style. The Punjabi festival to mark the harvesting season comes alive with dhols, Punjabi singers, music, dance and loads more. Also treat yourself to a mouth-watering spread of Punjabi delicacies like tandoori chicken, seekh kebabs, makki di roti, sarson da saag, vodka paani puris, ice golas, jalebis and more. Be sure to dress up and look all Soni!

January 14

Berklee attacks!
Watch The Aditya Balani Group or Berklee gift you an evening of musical mayhem. Each musician displays their unique talent as they collectively present a harmonic interplay of Jazz with the powerful melodies and rhythms inspired by Indian Classical and Folk music, and global music. The band features Aditya Balani on guitar, Mario Carrillo on bass, Noah Frank on trumpet, Sharik Hasan on piano and Tarun Balani on drums.

January 15

Black Mozart feat Priyadarshini
Music has no barrier. The Black Mozart is here to prove this as they jazz up the evening with Priyadarshini, a talented Indian songwriter. Inspired by Grammy winner Futureman's compositions the group takes the genre to new heights as they present a collective evolved sound. The group features Zach Casebolt, the Concert master, Lyndsay Pruett and Lindy Donia on violins, Tyler Andal on banjo, Jessica Hale on cello and a few more artistes.

January 16

East going east
Catch Marcus Wyatt, a young trumpet player from Eastern Cape play live in concert. He has been playing since 1983 with several musicians like Manu Dibango, Abdullah Ibrahim and Miriam Makeba to Carlo Mombelli, Bheki Mseleku, The Stockholm Jazz Orchestra and several more. He has performed in various national and international festivals across the world including a few in South Africa, Holland, Italy, Sweden, Belgium and Germany.
