In the wake of the Commonwealth Games, the civic body has tied up with about 30 companies, celebrities and individuals to train roadside vendors on various aspects of hygiene, health, management and presentation.u00a0
Though senior MCD officials have maintained silence over the issue, sources say leading food chains like Mc Donald's, and food critic, Tarla Dalal are among those who will impart training on various issues to the street vendors.

"I can not reveal the names, but there are 30-odd companies or professionals, who have agreed to train the street sellers," said Amiya Chandra, additional deputy commissioner, Remunerative Project Cell, MCD.
The scheme is being started from INA market where the MCD has come up with Tehbazari. It is a model market that will be followed across the city. "The training will begin in the next 15 days. The whole process is still being worked out," said a senior official.u00a0

"According to the availability of the individuals, a timetable will be laid out. The training will most probably be scheduled in their free time. The street vendors will be designated spaces all over the city markets. It'll be an organised affair and the vendors won't be found blocking roads in the markets. There will be uniformity in their shops under Tehbazari," added the official.

The official further stated that the whole idea behind the cause is to hone the skills of the workers and their businesses as well.u00a0 "If a worker is into small-time food business, he'll be taught about hygiene, recipes, presentation, mannerisms and other aspects of personal grooming," he said. Similarly, some famous beauty experts will train those who are running a parlour or salon for various therapies and trendy hairstyles. "Also, those into tailoring business will be made more equipped by prominent fashion designers of the country," said the official.

And this effort will be contributed for free. "The professionals are doing the work under their corporate social responsibility. So, they won't charge anything," added the official.u00a0
