Shreyans gets talking about the beginning, their evolution and more How did the band form and take its present shape?
Ansh, Abhishek and I first met in school, in the 10th grade. We lied to each other about our talents in music, but soon came together for the passion. We began participating in school/ college competitions and moved onto bigger things like pubs.
How did the name come about?
We were constricted by school and tuitions when we wanted to make a career in music, this was the 'friction'. So, Null Friction.
What genre would you want yourself classified under?
Every band defines itself with an innovative genre almost like they have invented it. We don't restrict ourselves. We play what we like and write our own music.
How has your music evolved with all of you joining college and moving places?
Our music has evolved with our experiences, playing with different bands. But our music has more to do with our roots, with where it started from, Chennai.
Which is the one band that formed your inspiration back then, and one that you would dream performing with?
Deep Purple was our only inspiration in school. We all now dig Red Hot Chilli Peppers (RHCP), and dream of performing with them.
Which is the band's collective favourite composition?
This song we wrote, that has continued to be our favourite, it is called 'Sailor'.
