FTII to be declared 'institute of national importance'

"The government has taken steps to declare the FTII, Pune, as ‘Institute of National Importance' through an act in Parliament," MoS for I&B Manish Tewari said.

Tewari was responding to a question by S S Ramasubbu, who had asked whether the government proposed to upgrade FTII to an independent university.

Tewari replied in the negative when Ramasubbu asked whether the government also proposed a student welfare fund and a research centre on the new campus.
