Bandra's new fine-dine eatery's posh decor and menu make it a top-notch choice if you are looking for a place to splurge, and cultivate your palate

Accustomed to al-fresco, European cafu00e9-style restaurants in Bandra, we cringed at our not-so-haute couture when we walked into this one. But, the warm staff that helped us pack away our rain gear, put us at ease while guiding us to a table of our choice.

Bathed in white, this fairly spacious restaurant has a blue-lit bar that stands at one end, while another side is lined with French windows overlooking the busy Hill Road. Premium white cutlery, and swan-shaped napkins sitting pretty on the side plates were another validation that we were in for a luxurious ride.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0

The menu here is not extravagant, but exotic and innovative. Multi-cuisine flavours, right from Italian to Oriental, merge into a single dish to offer a spread of global cuisine that's unique, exciting and well presented. Puro's menu has a limited choice for vegetarians, but it's a complete delight for seafood lovers.

The menu is definitely for the discerning foodie, so, you may need a little assistance from the staff, when you order. The starters Pan Fried Grilled Asparagus with Rocket Lettuce and Parmesan (Rs 225), and the Malaysian Chicken Satay served with Peanut Sauce (Rs 245) were both good preparations.

From the well stocked bar, we ordered the Queen of Rome, a concoction of sambuca and cranberry juice (Rs 450), which was divine. Single malts, bourbons, vodka, gin, and a variety of domestic and imported beers and liqueurs, complete the
bar menu.

Pastas, exotic salads and soups like Grilled Duck Salad, a spread of mains including Pan Fried Snapper, Lobster Thermidor, Moroccan Spiced New Zealand Lamb and Spanish Seafood Paella, among other indulgent choices, and Pizza make up the 3 or 4 course menu here. The Tortellini Stuffed Ricotta and Pumpkin served with Spinach, Parmesan, Cream and Walnut Pesto (Rs 345) and the Atlantic Salmon with Asian Noodles flavoured with Honey Soya and Chilly Dressing (Rs 725) were impeccable. We wrapped up the meal with a Chocolate Fondant (Rs 195).

The staff was attentive, and made sure they informed us if a preparation was going to take longer than 10 minutes. A meal for two (with alcohol) cost us Rs 2,000 approx.
