Renukacharya, who had invited some journalists to witness the raid on a bar on Brigade Road, ended up crashing the wrong party. He quickly realised his folly before hitting the right place on the second go.
Ashoknagar police station in-charge Inspector S Sudheer is the complainant in this case that took place at Brigade Garden Ladies Pub on Brigade Road, for running a live band on February 7 (Sunday).
The police have arrested the manager of the Club Kumar, captain Prabhu, bar girls Ruhani (21), Preethi (27), Sonam (20), Archana (21), Sunitha (25) and Kajol (23) who are all from Andheri, Mumbai. The prime accused Y R Manohar, who is the owner of the club, is currently absconding.
According to the complaint, when Minister Renukacharya raided the club these girls were wearing sleazy clothes and were also serving alcohol to the customers.
Police Inspector Sudheer said, "A case has been filed from the police and excise department under 36 (b) 103, 105 Karnataka excise act.
We have arrested a few people and are on the hunt for the others who managed to escape. As of now the license of the pub is under suspension and in a week's time a charge sheet will be filed."
Renukacharya said, "I had got several complaints from the public stating that a live band performed at the bar from 7.30 pm till late night."
He added that senior police officials had accompanied him during the raid on the pub.
"This was not a publicity stunt, but to remove anti-social elements from the society."
A few months ago, an officer from Ashoknagar police station, Uday Bhaskar, was caught red handed and suspended for having nexus with the bar owners.
