Rambling on the streets of Deccan, if you are in the mood for something light but satiating, drop in at Batloi. The name translates into ancient vessel or clay pot and we guess they chose the name for its uniqueness. True to its punch line of Not Just Momos, they offer a spread of Indianised Chinese delicacies. All said and done, it's a good place to spend some time with your pals enjoying the tasty food.

Ambience: The first thing that you notice when you enter is the wooden lobster stuck to the wall with a bamboo mug below it and the colourful Bob Marley poster on the wall. The eatery is brimming with youngsters and foreigners and has an energetic vibe to it that lifts your spirits. The interiors are decorated with bamboo logs and there are wooden planks and stubs to sit and eat which gives you the happy delusion that you are actually sitting in a log cabin deep in the woods.

We tried: Batloi offers a variety of soups, thukpas, wai-wai, chopsuey, noodles and more. You can opt for fried or steamed Veg and Non-Veg Momos that are offered with a light chicken or vegetable broth as accompaniment and spicy sauces made of ginger, garlic, tomatoes and onions that adds to the taste.

The Chicken Chopsuey Momos (Rs 65) included six chicken momos served with red chopsuey sauce and garnished with spring onions. We liked the dish due to the tangy taste of the sauce, which was quite unlike what we had tasted before.

The Chicken Maggi (Rs 45) can be had with a soup as well and we decided to try the combo. When it was served, we thought it looked just like the regular Maggi noodles but one bite later, we couldn't resist tucking into it. Full of veggies and shredded chicken, it is truly a value-for-money dish.

Despite the exotic-sounding name, the Chicken Wai-Wai (Rs 65) is actually nothing but noodles and looked just like the Chicken Maggi, though it tasted different.

Service: The place gets a ten on ten in terms of service. The waiters are well-informed and prompt.
