The boy fled after the accident. Shedge was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. "We have got the registration number of the moped, which was being used by a boy who as per eye witnesses is 14 to 15-years-old," said API PP Kirdat of the Vishrambaug police station.

"We will trace the number and will find out who was riding the bike and who owns it and action will be taken against both," she said. Deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Vishwas Pandhare said parents should not encourage their minor children, who do not have a valid licence to ride bikes.

He said that they will take up a drive against minors riding vehicles without licences and the owners of the vehicles would be made accused in the case under the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.

"If found that the parents had allowed the child to ride a bike or drive a car at under 18 years of age, then action would be taken against such parents,' he said. u00a0
