Mahim-based Waveban Technologies is looking to light up your life with a visualisation T-shirt that flashes lights more violently than a shiny disco ball. All it needs is surround sound
A Fashion designer, an engineer and a DJ walk into a bar. Throw in a circus clown, and you've got yourself an epic joke, but a mad-hatter invention like this is just as fun.u00a0
A tee that lights up works on the principle of electroluminescent lighting technology. Here, the tee produces a flash of light in response to surrounding sound levels in the form of an equaliser visualisation (on the fabric of the tee).
A flexible panel that's attached to the T-shirt using Velcro, is powered by four AAA batteries and can be detached from the fabric when you decide to give it a wash. The battery lasts for eight hours and can be easily replaced.
How does it work? The flashing panels also have a volume control knob that's provided on the battery pack to control the sensitivity of the flashing sequence in response to the surrounding sound. So, if you step into a discotheque or a bustling fish market, the flashing is sure to go berserk.

The tees are now imported from China and South Korea instead of being manufactured locally, making it cost effective, says Amrut Miskin, partner at Waveban, a firm that's brought the e-cigarette and now, flashing tees to Mumbai.
The T-shirt, priced at Rs 900, will keep the bars on your chest dancing even after your feet have stopped.
