Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Board (GSHSEB) recently asked for a retest for the mathematics exam for 500 students from Class X after it came to the fore that the schoolteachers 'fabricated' their marks.

Reports claim that the questions asked during the retest could not be answered by most of the students. What came as a shocker was that most of these students fumbled while answering even the basic questions. These were the same students who had scored at least 85% to 90% in the previous test.

Based on a CCTV footage acquired, the Gujarat education board is investigating the case. Prima facie investigation revealed that teachers had helped the students while the exam was underway.

Sources claimed these schools get grants from the state government on the basis of the performance by their students in exams, and hence to the teachers helped the students to up the passing percentage.
