Toddler dies of burn injuries after falling into pot of hot tea in Delhi

A four-year-old girl in east Delhi's Old Seelampur area succumbed to burn injuries after she fell into a pot of hot tea. Her siblings who tried to save the little girl also burnt their limbs




A four-year-old girl in east Delhi's Old Seelampur area died after she fell into a pot of hot tea. The accident took place at the victim's home.

According to a report by
Hindustan Times, the incident took place on Saturday when four-year-old Ayaat's older sister prepared tea in a pot, kept it under the bed, and waited for other family members to arrive. It was then when little Ayaat fell down from the bed into the uncovered saucepan. As she landed headfirst into the pot, she received severe burns on her face as well as upper body parts.

Ayaat was immediately taken to the hospital where she battled for two days and finally succumbed to her injuries. Referring to the accident, a senior police officer told to the publication, "Our probe has not pointed to any foul play. It was an unfortunate accident." The officer also stated that no case was filed in connection to the incident.

Four-year-old Ayaat lived with her parents and six siblings in a small house in Delhi's Old Seelampur area. Her father works as a tailor in the nearby Gandhi Garment Market.
