New Delhi: Dalhousie Public School, among India's top boarding schools, is set to inaugurate the tallest national flag in Himachal Pradesh during its founder's day celebrations Oct 19 at its sprawling campus.

Vice Admiral Anurag G. Thapliyal, director general of Indian Coast Guard, will inaugurate the tallest tricolour in the state, which is being put up with the help of the Flag Foundation of India, a statement from the school said.

"At 118 feet, it will indeed be the tallest national flag in Himachal Pradesh," said G.S. Dhillon, director and principal of the school.

"As part of the celebrations, a MIG-21 fighter aircraft is already inside our school campus. The Ministry of Defence has also just cleared the release of a T-54 battle tank, which will add to the pride and prestige of the school," he said.

"The display of defence hardware has a powerful motivational impact on our students -- as also those in the vicinity -- to join the Indian defence services."
