For thousands of youngsters who work hard each year to become officers in the armed forces there is good news from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The premier defence research organisation has created a programme where all the aspiring candidates can self screen themselves before appearing in the examination.
What all a candidate is required to do is to visit
https://www.drdo.org/cgibin/dipr/index.php and check whether they have those Officer Like Qualities (OLQ) in them.
"The aspirants will not have to face disappointment or feel rejected after failing in the Service Selection Board (SSB) examination. The programme would help assess themselves on the same parameters on which they are actually examined,"u00a0 said chief controller, life science, DRDO, W Selvamurthy.
The programme has been designed in a way that it tests a candidate on parameters which are almost same as those used by the SSB to assess a candidate for Offier Like Qualities. Both interpersonal as well as group skills can be tested through the programme.
"Candidates will have to go through a simple test where they will be given a set of situation. The tests judges both cognitive as well as psychological abilities," said Dr Selvamurthy.
He said the test has been designed in such a way that it keeps the importance of the psycho-social environment of the candidates to provide him a situation which is close to the kind of exposure he had in real life.
Sources in the organisation informed that the popularity of the website is increasing by the day and every day more and more hits are being registered."The programme will go through continuous updation in the future," said a DRDO official.
"We suggest to all the aspirants to go through this simple test and check whether they suit the requirement of the forces or not. The selection process is very stringent in nature and there is no scope for any angularity in the behaviour," said Dr Selvamurthy.
Presently, the success rate of the candidates appearing for the SSB interview is only 12-15 per cent which is considered 'good' by the organisation.
