What if you suddenly realised that the 'brand new' laptop that you just purchased has already adorned someone else's lap? Asheesh Srivastava a Disc Jockey (DJ), alleges he was cheated by a laptop showroom in Saket.


The DJ purchased an Apple laptop paying Rs 90,000. However when he wrote to the company for insuring the product, he was informed that the item had been bought last year.

The complainant, bought a Mac Book Pro on August 13 from Avtech Digital store, an Apple Authorized Reseller Store in Saket. He was promised a new piece with older version of Intel Core 2 duo for which they also promised him a discount. They fulfilledu00a0 their promise but gave him a used piece in the process. This he came to know only when he wrote to Apple for insuring the laptop.

"My previous laptop got stolen from my car. Because ofu00a0 my profession I had to immediately get a new one. After purchasing the computer, I came to know that the warranty of the product was going to lapse in October 2010. The life of the battery was also not good and the hard disk had been changed in January.

They also charged me to the full limit on my card, I had to pay the pending amount in cash," explained Srivastava.u00a0u00a0

u00a0"I trust the Apple product a lot and never thought of any thing like this even in my dreams. I advise all the people not to purchase any gadgets from this shop."

In a reply to his mail the company said, "Apple has reviewed your proof of purchase and your request to update the purchase date in our records. Your request was carefully considered. We regret to inform you that your request has been denied because the product received service or support prior to the purchase date you provided in your request."

MiD DAY tried to talk to the owner of the outlet but there was no response.
