A city-based trance disc jockey (DJ) and a BPO employee were arrested in Goa for trying to smuggle party drugs into Mumbai. Officials from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) recovered 93 strips of Lysergic Acid diethylamide better known as LSD and 600 grams of hashish worth Rs 3 lakh. Authorities said that the drugs were bought for the consumption of Mumbai's partygoers.
According to officials, they received a tip-off that the accused - Clinton Swamy and his associate Saud Kudaye Shakeel - were living in a hotel at Anjuna beach, Goa and had a huge consignment of drugs. Acting on the tip-off, the authorities on May 19 raided the place and recovered the consignment of LSD and hashish from them. They also managed to arrest their supplier Varun Raj (24), a resident of Goa.
"Each LSD stamp was going to be sold for Rs 1,500 to 1,600 in Mumbai. The stamps had photographs of animals on them with the name Alexander embossed on it. We are still trying to verify the origin of the consignment," said an NCB officer on the condition of anonymity. The duo has been remanded to judicial custody and is currently lodged in Goa jail.
