As part of a mock drill, Bundgarden police carried out a terror operation at Nucleus Mall on Moledina Street, Cantonment opposite Pune Police Commissionerate at 4.30 pm yesterday. The operation, which went on for one-and-a-half hours, took place under the supervision of DCP Satish Khandare, senior PI Suhas Nadgauda and Sudhakar Kate and was carried out by trained commandoes of Force One with AK-47 rifles.

Police commandos, fire brigade officials, bomb squad officers and sniffer dogs were present at the scene. By the end of the 'mock operation', the police had nabbed three terrorists, out of which two were reportedly injured. Five cops were also 'injured'. The drill was to gear commandos and cops into action.

Bystanders sighed in relief when they were informed it was a mock operation. "This is our third mock operation after Shaniwar Wada and Nobel Hospital at Hadapsar," said Khandare. "Such drills will prepare people in case of a future attack," he added. The next mock drill will be conducted after the Ganeshotsav.
