In 2005, the Banaswadi police had intercepted three persons for peddling drugs, but two of them had succeeded to give them a slip.
One of them was Nissar, the other, Masood, was arrested later by the Madivala police, and is currently lodged in Central Jail.
Over the past five years, Nissar managed to remain under the police net, and built his business steadily. In January, the City Crime Branch (CCB) had arrested Nissar near NIMHANS, but he got out on bail in February, and continued his illicit trade.
Nisaar continued to expand his business, and establish links with bigger peddlers across the country. He has many agents in city, selling heroin to college students and IT & BT people.
According to police sources, Nissar got his consignments every week from Chennai, where he had connections with foreign peddlers.
Modus operandi
Nissar was very cautious while operating, and was aware that the police were looking for him. In order to keep them confused, he changed his locations on a regular basis. He used to call customers for deliveries to different places, changed places at the last minute.
But on Sunday, cops who were tracking his movements arrested him near the Dharmavaram College at Kumaraswamy Layout, and recovered 115gm of heroine worth Rs 15 lakh from him.
ACP Lakshman of City Crime Branch said, "He is the kingpin of the drug mafia in Bangalore, and we have finally arrested him after he gave us the slip more than once.
