Chaplin statue: Artists to protest

Artists and writers will organise a demonstration on Friday in protest against the Sangh Parivar's opposition to erecting a statue of Charlie Chaplin in Uduppi.
The 67-ft tall statue was being constructed as part of film director Hegde's upcoming film 'House Full'.
Rightwing Hindutva outfits had stopped Hegde from erecting the statue in Ottinale beach in Udupi because "Chaplin was a Christian."
Saahithi Kalaavidhara Balaga, an umbrella organisation of writers and artists, will protest in front of Mahathma Gandhi's statue on MG Road at 4.30 pm, Friday.
Personalities like U R Anantha Murthy, Girish Kasaravalli, Daththanna and Lokanath will take part.u00a0
