Thousands of railway employees gathered at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) on Tuesday to protest against Railway Minister Piyush Goyal's decision to convert the heritage building into a rail transport museum, and to move the operations staff out.
The existing offices will be moved to the Annexe Building opposite the JJ School of Art. The employees, affiliated to the Central Railway Mazdoor Sangh, said that they will not allow this to happen under any circumstances. "There is no money with the railways for basic amenities for railway employees, and this is a very unfair and biased decision," said CRMS president RP Bhatnagar.
"We will oppose it tooth and nail. We are against every kind of move to convert the building into a museum. We will not accept it at all under any circumstances. This is very unfair and we will not allow it to happen," Pravin Bajpayee, general secretary of the Central Railway Mazdoor Sangh said.
