Following in the footsteps of MHADA, the City Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is planning to go online to receive payments of Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) for its upcoming housing scheme at Sector 36 in Kharghar. If things fall in place, those interested would be able apply for flats online once the pricing for the housing units is made public. This is the first time that CIDCO has decided to take the online approach for its housing schemes.
CIDCO PRO Mohan Ninawe confirmed the housing body's plan of going online but said there were several factors that would be considered before the decision was finalised. "Progress of the plan depends on the feedback we receive from planning, statistical and various other departments. We are serious about going online, as it would be very convenient for buyers. Online application would help people apply from the convenience of their homes or offices," he said.

Asked what about applicants from economically weaker sections (EWS) and lower income groups (LIG) who may not be tech-savvy, Niwane said in such cases the CIDCO may consider setting up kiosks at Raigad Bhavan or the CIDCO office in Belapur, where the applicants could be assisted in filling the online forms.
Claiming that the Kharghar housing scheme was getting a favourable response from people, the PRO said, "People are known to show keen interest in CIDCO projects. Even during the Unnati project, we received nearly 50,000 applications for 1,000 tenements."
The construction of flats that commenced in November 2011 is expected to conclude by May 2014. Besides, there is a strong possibility that unoccupied flats from the Unnati housing scheme and Kharghar's Vastu Vihar could be up for grabs alongside the flats at the Sector 36 scheme.u00a0
