Thugs slipped away with expensive gadgets worth Rs 3.5 lakh fromu00a0 a store only to be caught loitering outside the mall
The Big Bazaar outlet in Kothrud was robbed of goods worth Rs 3.5 lakhu00a0 last Saturday.
Two former employees of the storeu00a0-- Ganesh Patil (20), Santosh Salve (19) along with their friends, Rahul Mohite and Atul Shindeu00a0-- entered the mall from a toilet window and made their way to the store. Once inside, they stuffed mobile phones, video cameras and other electronic gadgets in their backpacks before escaping with the booty.
"The familiarity with the layout and the entry points chosen by the burglars indicated that the they knew the mall quite well," said DCP Dnyaneshwar Phadtare.
Investigating Officer PSI Udaysinh Patil said, "The patrolling team had rounded up all the four when they were seen consuming liquor in the area two days before the incident. Also, a few cops recognised them while scanning the CCTV footage."
ACP Savita Turekar said, "We first nabbed Patil and during the interrogation he revealed names of his partners in crime. They are all school dropouts and had planned the robbery well in advance."
