New blog believed to be handiwork of anonymous medical student exposes 'corrupt doctors', ascribes nicknames to them and divulges juicy bits of hospital gossip
Theseu00a0days whispers are quite the in-thing within Sassoon hospital's walls. And all credit for this new trend goes to a popular blogger who is anonymous and yet known to all insiders in the hospital.
Inside job? The Sassoon hospital says not all the things posted on the
blog are true. file pic
The blog in question is www.sassoonhospitalwhispers.blogspot.com which was started by a student a year ago. As the name suggests, the blog gives inside information and gossip about the hospital and some of the most controversial stories.
An intern doctor said, "The blog is super fun to follow. It can only be written by a junior doctor or a medical student. It has funny nicknames and stories about our professors," he said. MiD DAY spoke to a couple of junior doctors and found that they all had read the blog and that it was growing to be quite a rage.
"The blog created quite a noise about a month-and-half ago as that person posted a story about a doctor using the ambulance for personal purposes. The person had threatened to post the pictures taken, when she was caught red-handed and we were all eagerly waiting and checking out the blog to see those pictures," said a third-year medical student.
Dr Renu Bharadwaj, dean of Sassoon general hospital, said: "Yes we are aware of the blog and its popularity.
We don't know who is this anonymous blogger, but it seems unlikely that it's any of the staffers. Not all the things posted are true, it is just a sensationalist format with no substance," she said. Asked if any of the claims in the blog were investigated, she said there was no need to.
"This blog was inactive for almost a year, it only picked up two months ago and the buzz is back. Besides there is no official complaint, and I can't order an inquiry or action on an anonymous blog," she said.
What's on the blog
> Nicknames and codewords for all senior doctors
> Stories of what the blogger claims are illegal promotions, faults in tender process for hospital equipment
> Exposes on senior doctors allegedly misusing hospital property or taking advantage of resources
