Bangalore Habba begins today. The cultural fest will go on till February 20.
The fest will be inaugurated at Palace Grounds at 4.30 pm. The evening open with Kannada Folk Theatre with Kinnara Mela, Lambani, Veeragase Nagari and Pooja Kunitha. This will be followed by Classical Hindustani Dhrupad music by the Gundecha brothers.
The evening's finale will be a performance by music director trio- Shankar Ehsaan Loy.
Arts and crafts exhibition will be hosted at King George's Square in Cubbon Park (next to Minsk Square) from 4 pm to 8 pm on all the days of the Habba.
"Bengaluru Mandi- Hidden hues of Bangalore Markets" a photography exhibitionu00a0will be on at Max Mueller Bhavan on CMH Road from 9 am to 6.30 pm, till February 22.
Kannada plays will be enacted every day at 6.30 pm at Seva Sadan Auditorium, 14th Cross Malleswaram. This evening Benaka's "Gokul Nirgamana" will be shown. The play is written by Pu Ti Narasimhachar and directed by B V Karanth.

The Bangalore Habba was mired in controversies and it has finally taken off. The Habba was supposed to take place last December but was postponed. The Habba now took off today and will be on till February 23.

The Habba was postponed in December in the wake of the Mumbai attacks. It is also said that the other reason for the postponement was the controversy over government sponsoring the private initiative.
The Habba is promoted by Artists Foundation for Arts (AFFA), formed in 2002, to bring performing arts to the public. For five years, the Habba has celebrated the stage, be it in the pure form of classical performance or the modern and popular version of the art.
This year the Habba will have more than 50 performances in various parts of the city including Palace Grounds, Cubbon Park, Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Seva Sadan and even BBMP Parks. Public can watch the events for free.
This year AFFA has joined with Bangalore Photography Club (BPC) to present an exhibition of the photographs depicting the markets of Bangalore. The exhibition "Bengaluru Mandi: Hidden Hues of Bangalore Markets" is being held at Goethe-Institute/Max Mueller Bhavan from 9 am to 6.30 pm.
A coffee table on "Bangalore Mandis" will also be launched on Monday. "The book has moments captured at markets across the city, such as city market, Russell market, Madiwala, and Jayanagar.
