To study the many problems that are responsible for making the PMPML a weak public transport system, the BJP has decided to form a committee and prepare a report on its findings.
The committee will highlight the issues facing the PMPML bus service, which serves the city as well as Pimpri-Chinchwad, and suggest solutions.
Seven corporators will make up the members of this committee, the constitution of which is expected this week. The committee will conduct its study over the duration of a month.

"In a recent meeting, we took the decision to form a committee," BJP group leader in the PMC Ashok Yenpure said. "The poor service of PMPML is a major problem that the city is facing. Commuters are not getting proper service, which is resulting in an increase in the number of two-wheelers. For the last few months, it (PMPML) is suffering major financial losses. To analyse the root cause of this issue, we are forming a committee."

The committee will study the condition of the buses and depots, the route management of the PMPML, the grievances of commuters and go into financial aspects as well.
After the in-depth study, a report will be prepared and submitted to the Municipal Commissioner, the District Collector and the state government.
"We are against the fare hike recently proposed by the PMPML," Yenpure said. "The report will also analyse how the ticket cost can be reduced for the benefit of passengers."u00a0
