Attempt-to-murder accused killed near Spicer College

An accused in a case of attempt to murder was stabbed to death and defaced by three persons at an under-construction building near Spicer Memorial College on Sangvi-Aundh road Wednesday night


The murder was a fall-out of past rivalry between the deceased and one of the suspects, said police.u00a0The deceased has been identified as Bokya alias Somnath Mahadev Vare (29), a resident of Madhuban society in Old Sangvi. He was released on bail from Yerawada Central Jail a few days ago.

According to the police, some college students spotted the body lying in the parking lot of the building yesterday morning after which the manager of the college informed police control room and Chatushrungi police station. Somnath was stabbed on his chest and his face was smashed with a heavy stone by the assailants.

"We have detained Avinash Khenge alias Shetty (21) from Old Sangvi area and two juveniles in connection with the murder. A case has been registered against the trio," said assistant police inspector MN Walekar, who is investigating the case.
