Not content with just basic photoshopping, digital artist Aamina Shazi is mixing up her talent and software to produce some stunning artworks in her new showArtist Aamina Shazi has ditched the easel and paint in favour of the digital medium in her new art show Between Lines, a first for Bangalore. Pioneering the digital art scene in Bangalore, Aamina produces most of her work with a combination of software, including Adobe Photoshop, photos and a natural talent for building images from imagination.
This particular exhibition showcases up to thirty of Shazi's works inspired and developed from day-to-day living and life experiences. "My pieces look completely different to one another and may look like they do not connect or match. But if you put them together they all tell a story and come together.
And, as far as I know, I am the first digital artist showing in Bangalore, although it is a huge trend in the United States and Europe," Shazi says. Shazi's works have an element of fantasy to them and combine themes of feminine passion, romance and power, which she has incorporated through the digital medium.
Starting out as a graphic designer initially, Shazi felt her calling towards art and decided to mix up the medium of art and the digital platform when she started her own design firm.
With each piece taking anywhere between two hours and two days to produce, Shazi finds inspiration for her works from small tokens of everyday life. "I can do a series of digital artworks from anything in the day that I see. From light reflections of a lamp in my house or anything I see when out on the street, my works are pretty uninhibited and inspired out of a collection of events," she says.
For the avid art collectors, the artwork on show will also be sold as a one-off print only, guaranteeing exclusivity for the purchaser. With rapid expansion of social networking sites and online outlets for artists, more and more artists are taking to the medium of digital art in order to take creative leaps and explore their creativity.
