Army jawan killed in encounter in Srinagar

Srinagar: An Army jawan was today killed in an encounter with militants in Kupwara district of Kashmir.

Security forces launched a search operation in the forests near Petha village in Kupwara this morning following information about presence of militants there, an Army official said.

He said an Army jawan was killed in the initial exchange of firing between the security forces and militants. "The operation is still in progress and further details are awaited," he added.
