Agitated crowd standing in the queue for withdrawal of cash vandalised an ATM at Chakan at the outskirts of Pune on Saturday evening.
The incident took place at a State Bank of India's Chakan ATM where the crowd standing the queue got agitated as a man in a drunken state broke the queue and dashed at the ATM.
As it was fourth Saturday, the banks were closed, leading to long queues at the ATMs across India.
The Chakan police which falls under the jurisdiction of Pune rural police has filed a non cognisable case against unidentified person who was under the influence of liquor.
According to police, "The banks were closed on Saturday and people who wanted to withdraw cash were standing in huge queue. Since this area is on the outskirts of Pune, there are not many ATM queues here. Suddenly a man who was clearly drunk came and broke the line, thus agitating the citizens. The security guard then immediately pulled the iron shutter down to avoid further damage."
