The problem occurred after one of the coaches of a Badlapur-bound train encountered technical issues. "The affected train was taken to Kalva car shed and another train was started from Thane to Badlapur," said a railway official.
However, commuters refused to get down at Thane when the affected train was being taken to the car shed, eventually ending up at the Kalva car shed. Railway Police was deployed both at Thane station and Kalva car shed to ensure that no further problem erupts.
The CST-Badlapur train was first interrupted at Ghatkopar station. Sources said that the train stopped due to a technical snag. Finally when the train reached Thane at 7.45pm, it was cancelled due to unit failure.u00a0Soon announcements at platforms and inside the train were made, which lead to commotion amongst angry commuters.
Train overshoots Kandivli platform
In a separate incident yesterday evening, train services on Western Railway were also affected. The motorman of the 9.15 pm Dadar-Borivli fast local overshot from the platform at Kandivli station. "The train overshot from its designated halt," said Nitin David, WR spokesperson. Trains were halting for more than 10 minutes after Andheri station and were running late on the Western line.
Sources said that at least five coaches of the train didn't halt at Kandivli station and thus many commuters had to either jump off the train after it stopped or had to get down at Borivli station. After being replaced by another motorman, the motorman of the Borivli-bound local was taken for counselling.u00a0
