Film: Aloo Chat
Starring: Aftab Shivdasani, Aamna Sheriff, Khulbushan Kharbanda
Director: Robby Grewal
Verdict: ''
Aloo chat with all its trailers promised a lot of humour and I expected some serious comedy. But what they showed in the promos were the only set of witty dialogues in the movie. One more mishandled comedy in Bollywood!
The movie is as dragging and boring as its lead actors. Nikhil (Aftab! He needs to do something more then just smiling!!!) who is studying in the USA, falls in love with a Muslim girl, Aamna (Aamna sheriff), also settled there.
But when he returns to India he doesn't know how to break the news and take the approval of his conservative parents and beeji, who are extremely religious. So in order to twist the things according to his wishes, Nikhil plays a game along Aamna and couple of others, so that she is accepted at home. What follows is a series of confusion, which should have had lot of humour, but unfortunately the confusion prevails. But the humour doesn't come out!
Aloo Chaat is bland, and lacks the basic elements of a good comedy flick. Aamna should have stuck to her K serials. A comedy debut is definitely not her forte. She should realise this is not one more K serial where she can cry and romance! Aftab, as we all know, has a long way to go. If you want to watch the whole movie it is just because of Khulbushan Karbanda (as Purushottam), the strict father, and Manoj Pahwa. They are as good as ever.
Don't spoil your system with this "not so theeka" chat!!!u00a0
