Delhi police has set up a parallel investigation team to probe into the death of a 17-year-old student due to an asthma attack in the school premises.

Delhi police has set up a parallel investigation team to probe into the death of a 17-year-old student due to an asthma attack in the school premises.

A Delhi police officer in the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner said the team will examine events that led to death of 17-year-old Akkriti Bhatia, a class XII student of Modern School in Vasant Vihar.

The Vasant Kunj police is also investigating the case. The parallel investigation will be conducted by Rishipal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (South--II), a senior official said.

The decision to form the parallel team came after Akkriti's family members met Delhi police commissioner YS Dadwal on Tuesday and apprised him about the incident.

Following protest by parents and fellow students who blamed the school authorities for Akkriti's death, Delhi Government had also ordered an inquiry to look into all aspects of the incident.

Under intense pressure, school authorities have also set up a committee to probe allegations of "negligence" leading to her death.
