August has brought in good news for Mumbaikars. One of the seven lakes supplying water to the city, Vihar, started overflowing on Monday morning. This is the second lake to overflow this season, the first one being Tulsi.
mid-day had reported in August 1 edition that Vihar stood at a level of 79.34 mts, close to its maximum drawable level of 80.12 mts. Around 4.20 am, the lake started overflowing. Vihar is accountable for 90 MLD of Mumbai's 3750 MLD daily requirement.
Vihar lake provides potable water to the city.

Vihar Lake is located near Vihar village on the Mithi River within the precincts of the Borivali National Park, also called the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, in North Mumbai.
