Allahabad: Two professors of Allahabad University today lodged a complaint with police alleging that they had received "threat" calls from a person who claimed to be the "boyfriend" of a girl student.
The student, however, has said that she does not know who the caller might be. "We have started an investigation based on the complaints of professors Sahitya Kumar Nahar and Vishal Jain, both teachers in the Music and Performing Arts department," said Inspector in-charge of Colonelganj police station, Siddharth Tomar.
The two professors have alleged that they received threat calls from the same mobile number which, police said, has been put under surveillance now. Tomar added that while lodging the complaints, the two professors claimed that similar calls were made to as many as six other senior faculty members of the University's Arts Faculty.
The professor duo claimed the caller told all of them that he was the "boyfriend" of a research scholar in the Music Department and he would kill them if they harassed his "girlfriend". "The girl student has, however, denied knowing the caller.
She is not able to identify the mobile number. We are recording the statements of teachers and students whose inputs may be helpful (in tracing the caller)," added Tomar.
