Andhra Pradesh minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir today issued a legal notice to actor and Praja Rajyam's youth wing president K Pavan Kalyan demanding a public apology for dubbing him as a traitor and also making baseless, scandalous and defamatory allegations against him.

Quoting media reports on Pavan Kalyan's outburst against Congress leaders like S Jaipal Reddy, T Subbirami Reddy, D Srinivas, K V P Ramachandra Rao besides himself, Ali said, "You made these allegations with an intention, to incite a section and class of the society and those allegations are conducive to cause public mischief."
"By making such baseless and unverified allegations in unparliamentary, and abusive language, you had committed offences punishable under provisions of the IPC including the offence of criminal defamation," Ali said in the notice. On December 31, Pavan Kalyan - youngest brother of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi attacked Congress leaders for "looting public money."
In the same context he termed Ali Shabbir a "traitor" for failing to protect Wakf properties. This prompted Shabbir to react who threatened to launch action against Pavan Kalyan for criminal defamation.
