Cream Centre's entry into the city's fast food map can go without the fireworks as the food being dished out is far from exciting
If you have travelled around and find the name familiar from your visits to other metros in the country, your guesses of this one being a franchisee will only heighten when you see the exact logos in place. Yes, Cream Centre is now in town and we suggest you hold your horses before you let out those signs of rejoicing.
Cream Centre
Food: disappointing
Service: attentive
Ambience: plush
The ambience is at first impressive and a rainy evening may well be the perfect time to be here and watch it pour down from the huge glass windows with a reflection of the cream and beige lamps on the glass.
Looking forward to a fulfilling rainy afternoon meal we must say we were in for quite a bit of deception. Our meal began with a measely Sev Batata Puri (Rs 99), and scored low on the cards in both presentation and taste.
Dry and lacking in any of the flavour that is part of a wholesome chat, our spirits were quite equalled the dampness outside by now. Next came another speciality, the Channa Paneer (Rs149)u00a0 served with a giant puffed Bhatura (Rs 42), that looked appetising on the plate.u00a0
The Channa Paneer was quite well-done in its consistency but missed the zesty flavour that comes in a bowlful of the same from a roadside vendor in Delhi. To say the least, we were disappointed and not quite awaiting the arrival of our Achari Paneer (Rs 159) and Kulchas (Rs 90 for two) as anything more than routine.

The kulchas were fluffy but hardly impressive enough to make up for the disasters that came loaded on our plates throughout the meal. The Achari Paneer was tangy, spicy and overdone with the pickled flavour.
Despite not having had a plateful of actual lunch, we refrained from sampling other parts of the menu including the sizzlers and combos and settled instead for dessert. The trick here we assumed was to pick the simplest preparation on the menu so as to not let anyone have the chance of bringing to us another plate of disaster.
A Sizzling Brownie Sundae (Rs 195) it was going to be after much deliberation. This one came with a piece of brownie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate sauce poured down on it for the sizzling effect with loads of peanuts.
The brownie was soft and blended well with the ice cream and sauce. There wasn't much we could complain about.
Cream Centre deserves a pass under all circumstances except if the ambience is enough to go by for a new place or when you don't really have a choice go snacking anywhere else.
